Halls 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Ifema will be packed with an enormous variety of contents, state-of-the-art products and the fruit and vegetable industry’s most innovative systems.

The Fresh Produce segment –fresh fruit and vegetables; fresh cut and catering products; nuts; chilled, frozen and dehydrated; processed fruits and vegetables; Organic Hub; will account for 70% of the products on display at Fruit Attraction, although there has also been some important growth in the Auxiliary Industry Area, with 30%. For the first time, this year the trade fair will have a specific section called Smart Agro, which will cover the new technologies being used to generate new agri-food products and services and to improve farming productivity.

There will be a greater presence by the main Spanish fruit-and-vegetable-producing autonomous communities – Aragon, Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castile and Leon, Canary Islands, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, La Rioja, Murcia, Navarre, among others – making Fruit Attraction an excellent trade and business opportunity, enabling visitors to learn about the enormous diversity of contents, state- of-the-art products and the industry’s most innovative systems. It will also highlight Spain’s importance as one of the world’s leading fruit and vegetable suppliers. In this regard, Fruit Attraction will show the importance of the sector and of the Spanish fruit and vegetable market in the world. In the first six months of 2016, Spanish fruit and vegetable exports grew by 5.3% over the same period the previous year to a total of 7,101 million euros. During the same period, imports grew by 28.5% in value, to a total of
1,220 million euro.

The trade fair has also become established on the international scene as a real benchmark, with growth in participation by companies from France, Italy and Holland, and with new countries such as Colombia, Costa Rica, Egypt and Vietnam, among others, also taking part, confirming that Fruit Attraction is an essential event for global production, marketing and distribution. This year, the greatest event for the fruit and vegetable sector will feature even more suppliers and the biggest-ever range of products.

Technical Seminar Programme

A comprehensive programme of technical workshops and parallel activities on a wide range of subjects delivered by prestigious participants and speakers will complement the commercial activity at Fruit Attraction.

Once again this year, FEPEX has organised a comprehensive programme of technical workshops, among which are Access and opening up new markets for fruits and vegetable exports; Apple and Pear Attraction: promotion and marketing; Innovative varieties in the value chain, in collaboration with ANOVE and Ways to improve the availability of plant protection products in minor crops, organised in collaboration with AEPLA. The 4th International Congress of Table Grapes, Grape Attraction, organised by APOEXPA in collaboration with FEPEX, is also part of this interesting schedule.

The trade fair will also host SMART AGRO: The application of technology for the generation of new food production products and services workshop, organised by AMETIC – COMISION SMART AGRO on 6 September and TECHNOLOGY ATTRACTION: The future of technology in plants, courtesy of BIOVEGEN.

Also, among the seminars taking part as part of Fruit Forum is the 5th Alimarket Fruit Chain Seminar, organised by Alimarket.

Pasarela Innova and Foro Innova

Other of the initiatives that will ensure that this festival for the sector is a powerful business tool for companies is the fifth edition of Pasarela Innova, an exhibition area where visitors will find more than 40 new varieties of fruit and vegetables, as well as developments in auxiliary industry that have been launched in the last two years.

With this initiative, Fruit Attraction will highlight the trade fair’s capacity as a place for learning about what’s new in the sector, and a promotional platform where participating companies launch their new products to trade professionals and to the media.

Once again, the trade fair is organising Foro Innova, a space where companies are able to hold talks, presentations and technical seminars about the latest innovations and solutions for the fruit and vegetable sector. Foro Innova is an initiative that raises the profile of exhibitors and recognises the efforts and investments in R&D+i of participating companies.

Guest Buyers’ Programme

Fruit Attraction has made this business and sales tool available to the sector, gradually achieved a positioning that has enabled participants to take part in a platform for momentum and international expansion.  To do this, IFEMA, in collaboration with ICEX, has made significant investments in promotional campaigns and in an International Guest Buyer Programme, which will bring almost 650 professionals from the global procurement and distribution chain, from more than 70 countries, with high decision-making power in their companies and the ability to negotiate at the Trade Fair, to Madrid.

The Sector’s most important festival will also feature Fruit Fusion, a space set aside for dissemination, innovation and interpretation of the best fruit and vegetable products used in catering. This will be the gastronomic area of Fruit Attraction, featuring attractive demos and showcookings.

Organised by IFEMA and FEPEX, the 8th edition of Fruit Attraction will take place in Halls 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 of Feria de Madrid, from 5 to 7 October from 9.30 to 19.00, and until 16.00 on the last day of the event.
